Past anticipation
The sun comes up
My cells have aged
Despite my pledge
The clouds, a veil
That eerily hides
My youthful pride
A force so deep
Wears me down
I see from the ground
I used to see
I thought I knew
Where I would be
I know better now
Nothing remains untouched
My body has suddenly lurched
Forward into pastness
I use my memories of life
To draw myself anew
To build a sense of hope
From my past anticipations
So that I walk up the slope
