Shimmer of homelessness
The softness of his bark
As I try to feel
His life
Flowing
From roots
To leaves
But can't
I'm not from here
I'm not from this Country
I can't but try
To feel the Land
Surging through
My body
And belong
To the Traces
Of life
That web this Space
But I fail
I knew this Land
From words
Or so I thought
I now know it
Through senses
Or so I think I know
The sensations
Of my body
Being embedded
In this World
Of Dreams
And Laws
And Stories
Unknown to me
This is enraging!
And yet
A glimpse
Of the richness
And harshness
And hatchedness
Of this vast
Dry
Land
Is enough to keep me
Going
Thinking
Feeling
I absorb the air
Walk the ground
Feel the warmth
Of that ancient Place
And yet I only
See
In my Dreams
The shimmer
Of my homelessness
